Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) has announced the launch of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District. The competition aims to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation. According to Reschenthaler, "The winning artwork from the district will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol complex alongside pieces from all participating districts around the country."
The competition guidelines specify that artwork entered must adhere to certain criteria, including size and weight limitations, as well as acceptable mediums such as paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. It is emphasized that all entries must be original in concept, design, and execution to comply with U.S. copyright laws. Reschenthaler highlighted the importance of originality by stating, "Any entry copied from an existing photo or image created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted."
For those interested in participating, submissions for this year's competition must be received by Friday, April 26, 2024, at 5 p.m. EST. Detailed rules and regulations for the competition can be accessed online. Reschenthaler's office also provided instructions on how to submit an entry, directing individuals to complete the student release form and contact Sarah Youngdahl, District Director in the Westmoreland County District Office, at 724-219-4200 to schedule a drop-off time for the artwork.
