More than $2.3 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been awarded to projects in Pennsylvania’s 56th Legislative District, according to an announcement from Rep. Brian Rasel (R-Westmoreland). The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), which operates under the Department of Community and Economic Development.
The LSA program distributes gaming revenue from Pennsylvania casinos to support local economic development, job training, community improvement, and public interest projects. The CFA manages these funds through various initiatives focused on promoting economic growth.
“Between recreation, infrastructure maintenance and public safety, our local officials are dedicated to keeping spending low but still providing the services local families and businesses need and deserve,” Rasel said. “These projects improve the overall function of local municipalities and their visitors. I am grateful to have partnered with Sen. Kim Ward in getting these grants funded.”
Grant recipients include Irwin Borough, which will receive $151,512 for rehabilitation of the Fourth Street parking lot; City of Jeannette, receiving $484,697 for a new dump truck; North Huntingdon Township with $650,000 allocated for replacement of the Woodside Drive Pump Station; North Irwin Borough awarded $128,199 for a new public works vehicle; Penn Township granted $593,867 for HVAC repairs at municipal and library buildings as well as repaving areas within Municipal Park; and Trafford Borough receiving $330,169 for a new street sweeper.
