More than $4 million in Local Share Account grants have been approved for projects in Pennsylvania’s 58th Legislative District, according to an announcement from Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland). The funds were allocated by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development. These grants are intended to support economic development, job training, community improvement, and public interest initiatives using gaming revenues from Pennsylvania casinos.
“These grants represent much-needed improvements in local communities. Every local government has a list of needs that is outside their budget, so this is a great use of gaming monies that will better equip local governments to respond to their residents,” said Davanzo. “Sen. Kim Ward certainly played a big part in getting these grants across the finish line and I appreciated working with her.”
Projects receiving funding include equipment purchases for public works and emergency response in Monessen, repairs to Mount Pleasant Borough’s salt shed, street improvements in Mount Pleasant Township, renovations at North Belle Vernon Community Bank Park’s soccer field, replacement of the Woodside Drive Pump Station in North Huntingdon Township, new ADA-compliant facilities at DiVirgilio Sports Complex in Rostraver Township, upgrades at Pollock Run Wastewater Treatment Plant, swimming pool enhancements in Sewickley Township, sewer line inspections for Smithton Borough Municipal Authority, water line extensions on Rolling Hill Road in South Huntingdon Township, and pump station rehabilitation by Sutersville Sewickley Municipal Sewage Authority.
The CFA distributes grant funding through various programs designed to encourage economic growth throughout Pennsylvania.
