Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) has voted to move the Fiscal Year 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill forward to the Senate. The bill includes $199 million in funding requested by Reschenthaler for projects in southwestern Pennsylvania, focusing on the inland water system, infrastructure improvements, and support for law enforcement. The legislation is now pending action in the United States Senate.
“Southwestern Pennsylvania’s waterways, infrastructure, and public safety systems are critical to our regional economy and quality of life,” said Reschenthaler. “This bipartisan funding package passed the House overwhelmingly and delivers $199 million I requested to modernize our locks and dams, strengthen local infrastructure, and support law enforcement. I am eager to see these critical investments become law in the near future.”
The allocated funds will go toward several projects: $183.8 million is designated for continued construction of Montgomery Lock and Dam on the Upper Ohio River; $7.4 million will be used for operations and maintenance on the Lower Monongahela River’s Lock and Dams 2, 3, and 4; $2.25 million each will fund the Greene County Water Line Expansion and Westmoreland County Transmission Line Replacement; $1.75 million is set aside for North Fayette County Municipal Authority’s Water Main Replacement Project; $937,000 will expand Ohiopyle Borough Sewage Treatment Plant; and $643,355 is allocated for technology upgrades at Westmoreland County Law Enforcement.
On November 12, 2025, President Trump signed a three-bill appropriations package into law that included six additional projects totaling $6.5 million for southwestern Pennsylvania. Reschenthaler ranked as the third-highest recipient of Community Project Funding during this appropriations process. He has served on the House Appropriations Committee since 2021.
