More than $1.3 million in state grants have been approved for infrastructure projects in Pennsylvania’s 56th Legislative District, according to an announcement by Representative Brian Rasel (R-Westmoreland). The funding was authorized by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development that supports economic growth through various grant programs.
“These grants can get projects off the drawing board and across the finish line,” Rasel said. “As hard as our local governments work to budget responsibly while also meeting their communities’ needs, often, the cost of a project will far exceed what taxpayers can afford. As always, I appreciated working along with Sen. Kim Ward on seeing these enhancements come to our neighborhoods.”
The awarded funds total $1,309,905 and will be distributed among several municipalities within the district:
– Irwin Borough will receive $110,513 for storm water inlet improvements and a streambank stabilization initiative.
– The City of Jeannette has been allocated $603,120 for reconstruction of a retaining wall along Chestnut Street.
– Penn Township is set to receive $500,000 for retrofitting two stormwater ponds.
– Trafford Borough will use its $96,272 grant for the Bluff Stormwater Project.
The grants were issued through both the Multimodal Transportation and Small Water and Sewer programs.
