More than $4 million in state grants will be distributed to support infrastructure projects in Westmoreland County, according to Rep. Eric Nelson (R-Westmoreland). The funds come from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development that allocates funding for economic growth through programs such as Multimodal Transportation and Small Water and Sewer grants.
“These are big wins for our area. With storm water improvements to reduce flooding, intersection improvements to support business growth and increasing recreation opportunities for families, these grants represent key community investments which have positive impact for all,” Nelson said. “A special thanks to Sen. Kim Ward as she is a great ally in helping to ensure our neighborhoods are prioritized.”
The total amount awarded is $4,019,929 for the 57th Legislative District. The projects funded include $1.75 million for Hempfield Township to complete streetscape, walkway, and stormwater improvements near Country Club Estates; $569,929 for the City of Greensburg to establish four miles of new bicycle routes and make flood control improvements at Jack’s Run; and $1.7 million for Westmoreland County to improve the intersection of Route 30 and George’s Station Road.
