Several historical and cultural organizations in Westmoreland County have received a total of $62,500 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program, according to an announcement by Rep. Leslie Rossi (R-Westmoreland).
“These investments strengthen the organizations that preserve our region’s story,” said Rossi. “Their work safeguards the places, artifacts and educational experiences that keep Westmoreland County’s history vibrant and accessible for generations to come.”
The Fort Ligonier Association was awarded $30,000 to help cover general operating expenses such as staff salaries and marketing efforts for its year-round educational programming. The Ligonier Valley Historical Society received $7,500 to help with operational costs like utilities, supporting the ongoing preservation of the Compass Inn Museum and other historic assets.
The Westmoreland Fayette Historical Society/West Overton Village was granted $25,000 to fund part-time staff salaries needed for daily operations and immersive educational programs. This funding was advocated jointly by several local representatives including Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland), Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland), Brian Rasel (R-Westmoreland), Eric Nelson (R-Westmoreland), Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland), Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) and Ryan Warner (R-Fayette).
