Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) has announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has awarded funds to several local stormwater and sewer projects. One of these projects is the much-needed improvement of the pump station in North Huntingdon Township. The funds, totaling $800,000, will be used for the Youghiogheny Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Davanzo emphasized the importance of these grants in supporting local projects without burdening ratepayers. He stated, "Grants like these jumpstart local projects without reaching further into ratepayers' pockets."

The North Huntingdon Township Municipal Authority has been working towards funding this project for several years. Davanzo expressed his confidence in the impact of these funds, saying, "I know this will be a huge help in making certain that necessary upgrades are made."

The grants awarded for these projects are funded through Pennsylvania's H20 PA and Small Water and Sewer programs. These programs received more than $300 million in federal funds in 2022, thanks to the General Assembly's Act 54 of 2022.

In addition to the North Huntingdon Township project, several other local projects received grants. The Mon Valley Sewage Authority was awarded $750,000 for sewer system upgrades, supported by Sen. Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland). The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County received $516,306 to expand sewer lines in Yukon, also supported by Ward.

Other grants include $46,045 for stormwater upgrades in Scottdale Borough, supported by Sen. Pat Stefano (R-Fayette/Somerset/Bedford/Westmoreland), and $274,126 for sewer pipe maintenance and cleaning in West Newton Borough, supported by Ward.

The Rostraver Township Sewage Authority also received $235,000 for rehabilitation work in the Clair Manor and Sweeney neighborhoods, with support from Ward. Lastly, the Westmoreland Fayette Historical Society received $19,148 for upgrades to a historical site in Scottdale Borough, supported by Stefano.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority, established in 2004, is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. It distributes funding through several programs dedicated to economic growth.

These grants demonstrate the commitment of the government to supporting local projects and infrastructure improvements. With the help of legislators like Rep. Eric Davanzo, communities can receive the necessary funding to ensure their development and maintenance.
