HARRISBURG – Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) expressed her deep sorrow and devastation upon learning about the tragic death of Dave "Mogie" Magill, the owner of Mogie's Irish Pub in Lower Burrell. In a statement, she described Mogie as a beloved friend and a dedicated community advocate.
Cooper highlighted Mogie's commitment to his community, stating, "He loved Lower Burrell and the surrounding communities, often giving time and resources for no other reason than a sense of neighborhood pride." She emphasized that his passing is not only a loss for his family but for the entire community.
The representative also acknowledged Mogie's support for the Officer Brian Shaw Foundation, an organization that assists first responders and honors the life of a fallen police officer. Cooper noted that Mogie deeply valued the sacrifice and dedication of those who ensure the safety of their communities. To him, "Back the Blue" was not just a slogan but a heartfelt sentiment.
Today, Lower Burrell mourns the loss of a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. Cooper concluded her statement by saying, "Today is certainly a dark day. He will not only be missed by his family, but by the many, many people who had the pleasure of knowing him."
