Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) has called for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, citing Mayorkas' alleged defiance of US laws and endangerment of national security. Reschenthaler accuses Mayorkas of allowing over 8 million illegal immigrants to enter the country, facilitating the flow of fentanyl into communities, and enabling the entry of 300 known terrorists due to his negligence. Reschenthaler claims that Mayorkas' actions have led to one of the worst crises in the nation's history and deems him unfit for office.

Reschenthaler's statement reads, "In his capacity as Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas has consistently and blatantly defied the laws of the United States, endangered our national security, and greenlit an invasion at the southern border. Over 8 million illegal immigrants have crossed into the United States, fentanyl has flowed into our communities, and 300 known terrorists entered America because of his dereliction of duty. Our national security can no longer be put in the hands of Mayorkas, whose willful ignorance has made the southern border into one of the worst crises in our nation’s history. He is unfit to serve and must be impeached."

The statement from Reschenthaler highlights the growing concerns regarding border security and immigration policies in the United States. Reschenthaler and other Republican lawmakers have been critical of the Biden administration's approach to immigration, particularly at the southern border.

It is important to note that this statement represents the viewpoint of Reschenthaler and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of all lawmakers or political parties. The impeachment of a cabinet member requires a majority vote in the House of Representatives and a trial in the Senate.

As the debate on immigration and border security continues, it remains to be seen how this call for impeachment will be received by other members of Congress and the general public. The fate of Secretary Mayorkas rests in the hands of the legislative branch, as they weigh the allegations presented by Reschenthaler and determine the course of action moving forward.
