Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) recently addressed concerns regarding the use of facial recognition technology in schools, emphasizing the importance of student safety. Cooper stated, "Without a question, schools should be safe places where Pennsylvania students can learn and grow."

Expressing worries about data security, Cooper highlighted the risks associated with storing biometric information in school systems, stating, "Most computer experts agree that sensitive information storage requires continual monitoring and even still, it is vulnerable to hacking and misuse." She also raised concerns about the potential inaccuracies of the technology, noting that relying on error-prone systems could jeopardize student safety.

Shifting focus to Pennsylvania's energy industry, Cooper discussed the significance of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and its role in addressing the state's energy needs. She highlighted Pennsylvania's position as the second-largest producer of natural gas in the U.S., following Texas, and emphasized the economic benefits of LNG production and exportation. Cooper advocated for policies that support the safe extraction, transmission, and export of natural gas to stimulate job growth and economic development in the state.

In addition to these topics, Cooper shared important reminders with the public. She warned E-ZPass users about a phishing scam targeting Pennsylvania Turnpike customers and encouraged participation in the "Pick Up Pennsylvania" community improvement campaign organized by the Pennsylvania departments of Environmental Protection and Transportation.

As Representative of the 55th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Jill Cooper continues to advocate for student safety, economic growth through the energy industry, and community involvement in environmental initiatives.
