Rep. Leslie Rossi has announced that nearly $2.8 million in grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for projects within the 59th Legislative District. The grants, sourced from gaming funds under Act 71 of 2004, aim to support economic development, job training, community improvement, and public interest projects.
“These grants are a vital investment in our local communities, helping to address pressing needs and improve infrastructure that directly impacts residents’ daily lives,” said Rossi. “By securing these funds, we are strengthening our neighborhoods, ensuring safer streets and supporting essential services such as public safety and stormwater management. I’m committed to advocating for resources that will make our district a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
The funding includes various local projects:
- Derry Borough Municipal Authority will receive $300,000 for street paving in areas affected by a lead waterline replacement project.
- Derry Township is allocated $472,205 for stormwater infrastructure rehabilitation on Alexandria Street in Bradenville.
- Another $225,000 is designated for Derry Township to repair and repave Lincoln Avenue.
- Fairfield Township will get $350,000 for building upgrades at the Volunteer Fire Company.
- Latrobe Municipal Authority is set to receive $406,005 for sewage treatment plant upgrades in Unity Township.
- Ligonier Township is granted $172,509 for purchasing a new dump truck.
- Mount Pleasant Township receives $400,000 to replace Pollins Road Bridge and an additional $50,000 for a new utility truck.
- Unity Township will use its $380,125 grant for stormwater improvements on Bruno Road.
The CFA operates as an independent agency responsible for overseeing funding programs aimed at Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
