Rep. Leslie Rossi has announced that schools in the 59th Legislative District have been awarded nearly $857,000 in grants. These funds come from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee.

Rossi emphasized the importance of these grants by stating, “Ensuring the safety of our students and teachers is a top priority.” She added that these funds will help schools enhance security measures, improve mental health resources, and create safer learning environments for students. “Every child deserves to feel safe and supported in school," Rossi said.

The distribution of grants includes allocations to several school districts within the 59th District. The Derry School District received $134,301; Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technical Center was awarded $70,000; Greater Latrobe School District obtained $164,631; Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School also received $70,000; Ligonier Valley School District was granted $126,094; and Mount Pleasant School District received $136,510.

Additionally, targeted school safety grants were given to nonpublic schools in the district. Champion Christian School's North Campus received $5,000; Christ the Divine Teacher School was allocated $75,000; and Valley School of Ligonier also obtained $75,000.

These grants are part of efforts by PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee to enhance safety measures and provide essential mental health services for students and staff across Pennsylvania.
