State Rep. Jill N. Cooper | Pennsylvania 55th Legislative District

Returning from the swearing-in ceremony in Harrisburg, a representative expressed gratitude and humility. The event marked the opening of the 2025-26 Legislative Session as per the Pennsylvania Constitution. With members now having taken their oaths, legislative proposals can be considered.

The representative emphasized prioritizing community interests in the 55th Legislative District. During the previous session, they engaged with constituents at various events, often presenting official House of Representatives citations to honor significant achievements.

A Pennsylvania House Citation is crafted by the Legislative Reference Bureau to recognize notable accomplishments of residents. These citations become part of permanent legislative records housed in the Pennsylvania State Archives.

One memorable citation was presented during a centennial birthday celebration in May 2023 for Raymond Zeyzus and Mary Lutz. Raymond is a World War II veteran and active member of his local fire department, while Mary has an extensive family and participates actively at her senior center.

Citations also honor first responders reaching service milestones. In November 2023, ten volunteers were recognized for 50 years of service at a New Kensington Volunteer Fire Department banquet.

Those aware of individuals deserving recognition are encouraged to contact district offices for more information on obtaining citations.

The representative enjoys visiting businesses and attending board meetings to address challenges and offer assistance. Such engagements have inspired legislative proposals during past sessions.

Open house events are scheduled at district offices in January, February, and March for community engagement opportunities.

In related news, January marks National Blood Donor Month—a critical time due to potential blood drive cancellations caused by winter weather and illness. Despite many being eligible to donate blood, only a small percentage currently do so.

Additionally, dog owners are reminded to license their pets for 2025 as required by law. Licenses can be obtained through Westmoreland County's Treasurer’s office or online resources provided by state departments.

For further details or inquiries regarding these topics or others within the district, constituents are encouraged to reach out using provided contact information.
