Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler and Congresswoman Carol Miller have announced their roles as co-chairs of the Congressional Appalachian Caucus for the 119th Congress. Reschenthaler expressed his commitment to addressing challenges faced by Appalachia, stating, “Appalachia has long been overlooked and left behind by Washington bureaucrats as the far-left's Green New Deal policies devastated our communities.” He emphasized his dedication to working with Miller to “restore the American Dream to the region and unleash our vast energy resources which power our nation.”

Miller highlighted the significance of Appalachia, noting its contribution to America through natural resources like coal, natural gas, and agriculture. She said, "Appalachia is home to many hardworking Americans and a beautiful part of the United States." Miller looks forward to collaborating with the Trump administration on issues such as healthcare access, broadband, transportation, and job creation in Appalachia. She remarked, “We are a strong people and I’m looking forward to this caucus bringing forth solutions and opportunities for all of Appalachia.”

The Appalachian region covers 206,000 miles across 13 states with 26.3 million residents living in 423 counties. The Appalachian Caucus focuses on policies that concern domestic energy production and access to essential services like transportation, healthcare, and broadband.

In the previous Congress, Reschenthaler joined Miller on legislation supporting Appalachia including projects like the Mountain Valley Pipeline through the Fiscal Responsibility Act and initiatives under the Methane Reduction and Economic Growth Act. They also served as co-chairs during that term.
