Rep. Jill Cooper, representing Westmoreland, addressed the recent rise in violence in politics following an alleged arson incident at the governor's mansion. State police evacuated Governor Josh Shapiro and his family safely from the residence, while Harrisburg firefighters extinguished the fire, which resulted in significant damage.

"This incident serves as a stark reminder of the alarming trend of violence and hostility in our political landscape," Cooper stated. She expressed relief that Governor Shapiro and his family were safe but voiced concern about actions that threaten lives and democracy. She highlighted attacks on Tesla dealerships as part of a broader pattern of aggression that deserves condemnation.

Cooper emphasized, "We must collectively reject hatred and violence in all forms, as there is no place for such behavior in our society." She extended her thoughts and prayers to Governor Shapiro and his family, while commending the first responders for their quick and effective response. Cooper underscored the importance of coming together to ensure safety and uphold civility and respect.
