Rep. Leslie Rossi of Westmoreland announced that fire companies and emergency medical services agencies in the 59th District have been awarded state grants totaling nearly $352,000. The funding is part of the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
Eligible projects for this grant include construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction. Rossi emphasized the importance of supporting first responders, stating, “First responders selflessly dedicate their time and safety to ensure the well-being of our communities. Their commitment is invaluable, and these grants are a way to support them in their vital work."
The following organizations received grants: Bolivar Volunteer Fire Company ($13,310), Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department ($13,094), Chestnut Ridge Community Volunteer Fire Company ($15,000), Darlington Volunteer Fire Department ($12,879), Derry Volunteer Fire Department ($12,018), Derry Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 of Bradenville ($13,955), Dryridge Volunteer Fire Department ($12,664), Fairfield Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 ($13,740), Latrobe Free Service Fire Unit No. 6 ($12,018), Latrobe Freewill Volunteer Hose Company Nos. 3 and 4 ($12,018 each), Latrobe Good Friends Hose Company No. 5 ($12,018), Latrobe Good Will Hose Company No. 1 ($12,018), Latrobe Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department ($12,449), Ligonier Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 ($12,018), Ligonier Volunteer Hose Company No. 1 ($14,385), Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Department ($16,322), Mount Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Departments Nos. 1-3 (Kecksburg - $12,664; Calumet - $12,000; another unspecified location - $13,310 respectively) Mutual Volunteer Fire Department – $12,
All applicants meeting OSFC requirements receive funding upon filing a grant agreement by July 1.
