Rep. Eric Davanzo announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has allocated funds to support various local stormwater and sewer projects, including a key project in North Huntingdon Township. "I speak often with local government officials, and I know they have several expansion or maintenance projects in mind, but they also want to keep rates reasonable," Davanzo stated. "Grants like these jumpstart local projects without reaching further into ratepayers’ pockets."

The North Huntingdon Township Municipal Authority secured $800,000 for improvements at a pump station linked to the Youghiogheny Wastewater Treatment Plant. Davanzo collaborated with Sen. Kim Ward and Rep. George Dunbar to prioritize this initiative. "The authority in North Huntingdon has been working on getting that project funded for a few years now," said Davanzo. "I know this will be huge help in making certain that necessary upgrades are made."

The CFA, established in 2004 as an independent agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development, provides funding through programs aimed at economic growth.

Funding for these projects comes from Pennsylvania’s H20 PA and Small Water and Sewer programs. In 2022, over $300 million in federal funds were channeled into these programs by the General Assembly via Act 54 of 2022.

In addition to the North Huntingdon project, other grants within the 58th Legislative District include:

- Mon Valley Sewage Authority received $750,000 for sewer system upgrades.

- The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County was awarded $516,306 to expand sewer lines in Yukon.

- Scottdale Borough obtained $46,045 for stormwater upgrades on North Grant Street and Crescent Street.

- West Newton Borough received $274,126 for sewer pipe maintenance and cleaning.

- Rostraver Township Sewage Authority was granted $235,000 for rehabilitation work in Clair Manor and Sweeney neighborhoods.

- Westmoreland Fayette Historical Society secured $19,148 for historical site upgrades in Scottdale Borough.

These efforts reflect ongoing collaborations between state representatives and local authorities to enhance infrastructure while managing costs effectively.
