Rep. Leslie Rossi announced that nearly $85,000 in funding has been allocated to Westmoreland County through the Career and Technical Education Equipment Grants Program. The Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technical Center will receive $84,945 to enhance its education equipment and provide better opportunities for students.

"I am pleased to have advocated for this local funding," Rossi stated. She emphasized the importance of career and technical education as a way for students to achieve educational success. According to Rossi, "It is imperative we train our students with the needs of our economy, and right now that need includes more individuals with skills in trades."

Statewide, more than $4 million in competitive grants have been distributed to 55 career and technical centers and school districts within the Commonwealth. In Pennsylvania, over 80 career and technical centers offer a mix of classes and hands-on learning approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. These programs enable students to earn industry credentials or certifications needed for highly demanded local jobs, guiding them toward a successful career path.
