Schools in Pennsylvania's 59th Legislative District will benefit from grants totaling nearly $857,000, according to an announcement by Rep. Leslie Rossi. The funds, distributed by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's School Safety and Security Committee, aim to enhance school safety and mental health services.

Rossi underscored the importance of these grants, stating, “Ensuring the safety of our students and teachers is a top priority. These grants will help local schools strengthen security, improve mental health resources and create a safer learning environment for students. Every child deserves to feel safe and supported in school."

The grants were allocated to several school districts and nonpublic schools within the district. School districts receiving funding include:

- Derry School District: $134,301

- Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technical Center: $70,000

- Greater Latrobe School District: $164,631

- Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School: $70,000

- Ligonier Valley School District: $126,094

- Mount Pleasant School District: $136,510

Additionally, targeted grants were awarded to the following nonpublic schools:

- Champion Christian School, North Campus: $5,000

- Christ the Divine Teacher School: $75,000

- Valley School of Ligonier: $75,000

The PCCD's School Safety and Security Committee provides these grants across Pennsylvania to bolster safety and mental health resources within educational settings.
