State Rep. Leslie Rossi | Pennsylvania 59th Legislative District
Rep. Leslie Rossi of Westmoreland announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved nearly $809,000 in state funding to support community improvement projects in the 59th Legislative District. Rossi was instrumental in obtaining these Local Share Account (LSA) grants.
"Our municipalities have so much on their plates when it comes to improvement projects, and these initiatives can get very expensive," Rossi stated. "Fortunately, this funding will help fill in the gaps to make sure these improvements can be made in a timely manner. Whether it's purchasing new equipment or building new facilities, these projects will help make life a little easier and a little safer in Westmoreland County."
The funding will support various local projects:
- Donegal Township will receive $200,000 for a water and sewer authority project to construct a sanitary sewer collection and treatment system.
- Mount Pleasant Township is set to get $108,960 for building a salt storage shed and $115,517 to replace the Westmoreland Homesteads Volunteer Fire Department's hydraulic and powered rescue tools.
- St. Clair Township will utilize $42,000 to purchase a new excavator for cleaning roadside ditches.
- Unity Township has been allocated $16,247 to buy a grapple for removing fallen trees and other road debris.
- The Westmoreland County Redevelopment Authority will use $326,000 to replace the underground culvert system in Derry Borough.
The CFA, an independent agency, oversees the fiduciary responsibility for funding programs and investments geared toward Pennsylvania's economic growth. LSA grants are financed through revenues from gaming.
