Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) emphasized the commitment of House Republicans to border security during an interview on Fox Business' Mornings with Maria. Reschenthaler highlighted the urgent need for action, stating, "Our number one priority is border security." He drew attention to the alarming statistics, stating that "we've got over 300 Americans every single day dying of fentanyl overdoses." Additionally, he pointed out that in 2023, "we had more illegal immigrants enter the country than we had births within the United States." Reschenthaler emphasized that this crisis is of paramount importance and cannot be overstated.

Reschenthaler also expressed concern about the recent decision by President Biden to delist the Houthis as a terrorist organization. He quoted former Secretary Gates, who said that Biden has been wrong on every major foreign policy decision. Reschenthaler criticized the delisting of the Houthis, stating, "And now you see a rag-tag group of terrorist pirates interfering with international trade." He highlighted the significance of the issue, explaining that roughly 10 percent of global commerce and approximately 30 percent of all shipping containers pass through the Red Sea. Reschenthaler warned that carriers may choose alternative routes, such as going around the Cape of Good Hope through Africa, which would increase costs for American consumers.

Turning his attention to the conflict in the Middle East, Reschenthaler expressed frustration with the lack of action by the Biden administration. He stated, "We're not showing the Iranians and the terrorists in the Middle East that we're serious." Reschenthaler criticized the delayed and limited strikes on the Houthis, suggesting that stronger and quicker action would have sent a stronger message.

In summary, Reschenthaler reiterated the commitment of House Republicans to border security as their top priority. He underscored the urgency of addressing the border crisis and highlighted the consequences of fentanyl overdoses and the influx of illegal immigrants. Reschenthaler also criticized President Biden's decision to delist the Houthis as a terrorist organization, emphasizing the impact on international trade. Additionally, he expressed frustration with the lack of decisive action in the Middle East conflict.
