Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler released a statement following the House's approval of H.R. 1968, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act for 2025. The legislation ensures federal government funding through the end of Fiscal Year 2025.
Reschenthaler emphasized the importance of this bill, stating, “While Democrats tried to hurdle our federal government into a shutdown, House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution that keeps the lights on and funds a historic pay raise for our nation’s junior enlisted servicemembers. This critical legislation is paramount in our effort to institute President Trump’s America First agenda and continue rooting out waste, corruption, and abuse. I urge the Senate to pass this bill immediately to ensure no delay in protecting our nation and its citizens.”
The act provides several key provisions:
- Funding for the federal government through Fiscal Year 2025.
- Full funding for veterans' healthcare services and benefits.
- A significant pay increase of 14.5 percent for junior enlisted servicemembers, marking the largest raise in over four decades.
- Measures to prevent disruptions in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid services.
- An increase in WIC funding by $500 million, raising it to $7.6 billion as requested by the Trump Administration.
