Westmoreland Review

Rep. Jill Cooper (R-Westmoreland) and Summit Legal Aid will host a community event on Friday, Aug. 9, from 1-4 p.m. at the Valley Points Family YMCA, located at 800 Constitution Blvd., in New Kensington.

Community organizations and residents are invited to attend the event to meet with Summit Legal Aid staff and Rep. Cooper to learn more about available services for those in need of assistance. The event will feature free refreshments, activities, and a basket raffle.

Summit Legal Aid, formerly known as Laurel Legal Services, provides free legal help to qualified residents in ten counties, including Westmoreland. As a newly merged organization, Summit Legal Aid is visiting various communities within its service area to inform residents about its work.

“It is not uncommon for a constituent to come to our office with a heartbreaking story. My staff and I have shed more than a few tears and we know Summit Legal Aid’s services can fill an important gap, providing a much-needed lifeline to those in need,” said Cooper. “The event planned for Friday will help make certain the community knows Summit is here and may be able to help.”
