Rep. Jill Cooper, representing the 55th Legislative District in Westmoreland, is organizing a Community Health, Wellness and Careers Fair this Saturday, July 29. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown New Kensington, specifically between Barnes and 10th streets.

Cooper expressed her motivation for hosting the fair: “Our region has so many community organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of our neighbors, so I wanted to host an event that brings these organizations to one spot and make them accessible.” She added that New Kensington's "special hometown feel" made it an ideal location.

The fair will feature over 40 exhibitors with booths offering information on services for seniors, education opportunities, health care resources, and first responder services. A demonstration by the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Bloodhound Team is scheduled at Cooper’s booth at 10 a.m., located under a red tent at the corner of Barnes and 10th streets.

In collaboration with the New Kensington Police Department, there will be a Free Replacement for Hard-to-Read License Plates event. Motorists should bring a digital photo of their plate along with their vehicle registration and driver’s license. Assistance will also be available for those needing a Persons with Disabilities Parking Placard.

Attendees visiting at least 15 exhibitors can participate in a prize draw through the Community Fair Passport program. Food will be available from local vendors. Should there be inclement weather, the fair will move indoors to the Banquet on Barnes at Knead Café located at 1100 Barnes St., New Kensington.

“My staff and I worked hard at appealing to a wide range of interests, making sure that there is something for everyone,” said Cooper about the event's diverse offerings.
