State Rep. Jill N. Cooper | Pennsylvania 55th Legislative District
Rep. Jill Cooper of Westmoreland County will host a Mobile Shredding Event on Saturday, August 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. The event is scheduled at her Washington Township/Export Office located in Donal Plaza, 105 Pfeffer Road, Suite 5, Export.
"In today’s world, identity theft is unfortunately very common,” said Cooper. “I am happy to help my constituents protect their personal information with regular shred events. If you aren’t able to make this event, please remember that personal information should always be kept safe and secure until it can be disposed of properly. When destroying personal information, it should be shredded or burned.”
Participants are limited to two bags or boxes per household for shredding. Items suitable for destruction include bank and credit card statements, tax documents, insurance claim forms, and any materials listing a Social Security Number. Staples, paper clips, and manila folders are acceptable; however, books, magazines or metal binding materials other than staples cannot be shredded. The documents collected will be shredded on-site in a truck and then sent to a local paper recycling plant for processing and reuse. Only personal shredding is permitted; commercial business documents will not be accepted.
For inquiries regarding the event, contact Cooper’s district office at 724-387-9113.
