University of Pennsylvania at Greensburg issued the following announcement.
The Pitt-Greensburg Study Abroad Office invites students of color to apply to the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship. Ten students from across the United States are selected to participate each year. Applications will be accepted through February 14, 2021. The Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship, sponsored by study abroad provider CIEE, is a fully-funded 3.0-credit, 4-week summer program. The location of this year's fellowship is IRELAND and marks the 175th anniversary of Frederick Douglass’ first journey abroad there. The complete experience is FREE of cost to Fellowship recipients.
“This is the first year our students are able to apply,” said Lauren Perri, Pitt-Greensburg Study Abroad Coordinator. “Historically, this prestigious fellowship was only available to students attending minority-serving institutions. This year, it is open to all students of color/students of ethnicities underrepresented in study abroad, regardless of institution type.”
In the likeness of Frederick Douglass, this Fellowship seeks change makers, leaders, and advocates. Prospective applicants should have an interest in social justice. Freshman, sophomore, and junior students of color/students of ethnicities underrepresented in study abroad are invited to apply. A GPA of 3.0 is also required.
