Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and nine other colleagues from the Pennsylvania and New Jersey GOP Congressional Delegations have urged President Biden to withdraw the nomination of Adeel Abdullah Mangi to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The lawmakers have raised concerns about Mangi's ties to a law school organization known for promoting radical and antisemitic views.

Mangi served as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Center for Security, Race, and Rights at Rutgers Law School from 2019 to 2023. The Center has a history of amplifying antisemitic speech, terrorist propaganda, and anti-American rhetoric. Mangi himself donated thousands of dollars to the Center and was personally invited to join the board of advisors by the Center's director, who has been known for promoting antisemitic rhetoric.

In a letter addressed to President Biden, the lawmakers expressed their concerns about Mangi's nomination and questioned his impartiality. They highlighted Mangi's failure to denounce examples of antisemitic rhetoric espoused by the Center during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The lawmakers stated, "Given the rise of antisemitism across our nation, we have grave concerns regarding his nomination and impartiality. For these reasons, we ask that you withdraw his nomination to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit."

The nomination of Mangi has also faced opposition from multiple Jewish organizations. The Zionist Organization of America, Americans Against Antisemitism, StopAntisemitism, and Students Supporting Israel have issued a joint statement expressing their opposition. Additionally, the Coalition for Jewish Values, which represents over 2,500 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in American public policy, has sent a letter opposing the nomination.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has compiled a list of the Center's antisemitic actions and Mangi's involvement, which can be viewed on their official website. The lawmakers' full letter to President Biden can also be accessed for further details.

It remains to be seen how President Biden will respond to the request to withdraw Mangi's nomination to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
