Rep. Leslie Rossi has announced that the Mountain Watershed Association (MWA) received $72,000 in funding from Pennsylvania's Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP). The funds will be used to improve safety and access along the Indian Creek Valley Trail in Westmoreland County.
"MWA’s dedication to preserving and improving our local environment makes them an invaluable partner in our efforts to create better recreational spaces in Westmoreland County," said Rossi. "The work on the Indian Creek Valley Trail will not only enhance safety and accessibility but also ensure these natural areas are protected for future generations to enjoy."
The grant will help restore the trail's Indian Creek Gorge section, which was damaged by a storm in 2021, and resurface the historic Jones Mills section. These enhancements aim to increase safety, accessibility, and environmental protection for nearby natural areas, including MWA's Rasler Run property.
The GTRP is funded through the Marcellus Legacy Fund established under Act 13 of 2012. It supports planning, development, and enhancement of public parks, trails, greenways, and other recreational spaces across Pennsylvania.
