State Rep. Jill N. Cooper | Pennsylvania 55th Legislative District
Serving the residents of Pennsylvania's 55th Legislative District remains a significant honor for Representative Jill Cooper as she embarks on her second term in the state's House of Representatives. In a recent statement, she expressed enthusiasm about continuing her work for the district.
Cooper outlined the dual roles of a legislator, emphasizing both legislative duties in Harrisburg and constituent services at home. "The first thought many people have is the work in Harrisburg that can include intense floor debates and casting votes," she noted. However, she highlighted that assisting constituents with state department issues is equally important.
During the 2023-24 legislative session, Cooper's office handled over 6,200 constituent cases. These ranged from correcting documentation errors to helping veterans with benefits applications. More than 110 veterans received assistance during this period.
Cooper also values direct interaction with constituents through events like town halls. She announced three upcoming open houses scheduled for January, February, and March at various district locations.
In Harrisburg, Cooper has served on several committees over the past two years but awaits new assignments for the upcoming session. Her focus remains on legislative interests impacting local lives, including education and public safety.
The Pennsylvania Farm Show will begin on January 4 in Harrisburg, running until January 11. This year's theme is "Powering Pennsylvania," showcasing agriculture's role in the state's economy. Admission is free, though parking costs $15 per vehicle.
Additionally, PennDOT seeks college students for summer employment from May through August. Interested candidates must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in college for the next semester.
Representative Cooper concluded by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year alongside her staff members Debra Wohlin, Corrie Alexander, Alaina Adams, Robin Savage, and intern Elle Caron.
